Artists strengthen communities, inclusion and act as social glue. All essential in a rapidly changing world, marked by environmental challenges, disinformation and war. The artist's work ensures that people of all ages can encounter art and culture in their everyday lives – in Sweden and internationally.
How can we ensure that independent artists have the right conditions to continue their artistic work? What is at stake if they don’t?
This conversation explores art and culture’s role in society, social defence and democracy. Culture Assembly of Lithuania talks about the national demonstrations to save the Ministry of Culture and artistic freedom. We also get perspectives from other sectors that view culture as an essential social human right and resource in society.

Gintarė Masteikaitė is a Lithuanian cultural leader and producer in contemporary dance and circus. She is the Director of the Lithuanian Dance Information Centre and the Artistic Director of the New Baltic Dance festival. Masteikaitė is also the founder of ConTempo, an international performing arts festival in Lithuania. With extensive experience in international projects, she works to strengthen the role of dance in culture and society.

The Centre for AMP is a non-profit association that work to create safer and more attractive public places. They do this with installations, activation, activities, and events. The organization achieve this through a unique, co-financed model that partners with municipalities and real estate owners to fund the daily presence in these spaces. This approach allows The Centre of AMP to tangibly demonstrate how to connect social development with economic reality, leading to measurable and sustainable community change.
The Centre of AMP is founded by Svensk Försäkring, Svensk Handel and the real estate companies AMF Fastigheter, Atrium Ljungberg, Humlegården Fastigheter and Vasakronan.

Tidigare orkesterchef, internationellt- och utvecklingsarbete för konstnärer och organisationer inom det fria kulturlivet, bl.a. Folkoperan, Cirkus Cirkör och som ordförande för Cirkuscentrum (fd Manegen).

Regional verksamhetsledare Teatercentrum Östra. Teatercentrum är de fria professionella teatrarnas samarbets-, intresse- och informationsorganisation. Tillsammans med andra centrumbildningar och ASSITEJ Sverige verkar de för alla barns rätt till kultur, med målet att scenkonst ska vara en självklar del av skolans vardag i hela landet.

Robert Egnell är professor i ledarskap och sedan 1 april 2019 rektor för Försvarshögskolan.Han har en doktorsexamen från King's College, London och har tidigare bland annat arbetat som forskare vid Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut (FOI), som besöksprofessor och Director of Teaching inom Security Studies Program vid Georgetown University samt undervisat internationella relationer, konflikthantering och statsvetenskap vid universitet i Tanzania.
